Who wants to know everything about my journey to Bozeman and my new room? Do i hear a resounding "YES!" from the crowd? (YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Okay, for that enthusiastic reply, i give you.........Journey to the (Mid)West!
Prologue
It all started when the hero (namely myself) boarded the airplane to Singapore from Penang. The flight was relatively short but the layover in Singapore was hell. The plane finally departed from Singapore to Narita at 7.15am, 9 hours after the hero arrived in the airport.
The hero slept through most of his journey to Narita, occasionally waking up only to eat (of course, need get my nutrients. Plus, i have a strange addiction to airplane food. Must the the little trays and itsy boxes the food comes in). From Narita, he boarded another plane to San Fransisco. Soon he arrived in SF and faced a helluva long time in Immigration as he lost some documents (replaceable, thank God). By now, the hero was truly tired, only managing a few hours of sleep since his departure from Penang (26 hours ago). He then slept through the flights from SF to Denver and the Denver to Bozeman flight. Nothing much happened in these two flights with the hero only waking up to eat. Oh, and he sat next to a very eye-catching lady in the Narita to SF flight.
On reaching Bozeman, the hero was picked up by a friend (nice new SUV). He was then transported to his new dorm (South Hedges) and upon arriving, the hero checked in and called it a night...............
The Dirty South
I woke up the next morning really tired, only managing about six hours of sleep. Lots to do today as i did not finish unpacking (barely started). As soon as i've had my breakfast (tau sar pneah, courtesy of me smart thinking mum), i started unpacking and to my relief, nothing broke or leaked in my bag (i brought a lot of fragile and water-based products).
*The new room is really really nice. This room is big for a single room, about 3/4 the size of my old room. It comes with a huge ass closet and a great table complete with a table lamp. It has a great view (i'm on the fifth floor. Beats the dust from the basement i used to live in) and i love everything about it. And the location, oh i love the location of my room. Just in front of me is the laundry. And my floor has a study room, a big lounge with tv and foozeball and two, read two toilets. This is because the floor is shaped like a figure 8 so that each loop has its own toilet. This is so much better than having to walk to the laundry room (two dorms away) and no lounge or study room to speak of in my old dorm building (it is forgiveable if it was dorm floor, but dorm building was just too much for me to handle)*
I did nothing much for the day. Just went to the bookstore to get some books. Met some old friends. Was also introduced to a couple of new people. By this time, the old disease (from the first few days in the States '05) of not being able to remember which name belongs to which face struck back. I could only handle so much of blond haired and blue eyed people in one day. However, i believe i would eventually be better at recognising people (that's according to my track record last year)
Then, in the afternoon, my roomate from last year moved in (my neighbor now) and i got all my stuff from last year. I started to truly unpack and finally at 4.00pm, i was done. And get this, i worked yesterday. Only a day into Bozeman and i've started working again. Went back to my old workplace and met everybody again. Nice to see them after such a long time. And the best part, THE BEST PART of the whole deal is ....drumrolls..........drools..........the minimum wage increased over the summer. Now it is 7 instead of six dolars an hour. So that means, i get 7.30 per hour (30 cents is because i am now working into my tird semester. 15 cents increase per sem). I LOVE IT. After that, i went back and slept, still tired from travelling.
Epilogue
Today, i woke up frusfrated as my internet won't work. I called the help centre and did a bunch of stuff under the tech's help but it just wouldn't work. I have to reboot or something. What the heck is reboot and how the hell do you do it (tech 1, Andrew 0). Went to the bookshop again to buy some books and a toothbrush. Yes, a tooth brush. Now some of you might be thinking i haven't brushed my teeth since i left PG but that is only partially true. You see, i did not have a toothbrush with me when i arrived in BZN. I threw it away in the airport together with the toothpaste as we were not allowed to bring liquid materials onboard. Now why did i not keep the tooth brush and threw only the paste away? I don't know. The fact is that i did not have my toothbrush went i arrived in BZN. So what is a guy with stinky breath to do? Brush his teeth with his fingers of course. I think nightmarish is the word to sum up the whole brushing experience. Thank God no one walked in on me. Now that i have toothbrush, i finally feel....complete, not to mention cleaner. Okay, back to the story. After i got back from the bookstore, i tried the internet again and, guess what, the internet worked (Duh)! Yay !
So, that is all from great piece entitled Journey to the (Mid) West. Excuse the hero as he just caught a wift of bacon and something deep fried in the air (room is positioned above the kitchen. Great smells abound). Till then, tra la
