Hello everyone !!
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival !! Wow, tonight was such a great night. So for those of you that are not in the know (pretty much everyone except my mum); to celebrate today's festival, i decided to throw a Malaysian Dinner night for some of my closest friends. I have been planning this dinner for a week and well, it was sooo good. I was just gonna be contented if the food i cooked were not burnt but it turned out really really good (ahem ! praising my cooking prowess of course) So the menu :
Jasmine Rice
Fish Head Curry (without the head of course, just chunks of really great halibut)
Kangkung Sambal Belacan (i substituted the kangkung with chinese long beans)
Chinese Five spice Chicken with snow peas and carrots
Cucur Udang with Spicy Chilli Dip
Soy milk with grass jelly (cincau) for drinks
.......And my dessert with i had slaved over for two days, Sago Gula Melaka with coconut cream
The dessert which was a real labor intensive item was a great hit. For the dessert, i had to reduce two cans of coconut milk into coconut cream (which i did yesterday for one and a half hours) and then boil the sago pearls till they are translucent (took me and hour and a half to cook it and then another half hour to put it into moulds) and finally make the gula melaka syrup (which took me another one and a half hours). I am happy that the dessert came out so good, worth the time i put into it :)
So the dinner was really great, the company was enjoyable, the party was a success.
Enough said.
