Pics as promised...

Yesterday, i had a dinner at my place for a friend who is leaving for Antartica for her research. Granted this is not her first time there (she goes there every year), it's still nice to throw her a going away party. Especially since we would not be seeing her until May. Her work basically consists of collecting ice samples for bio-analysis purposes (very National Geographic stuff. I can't tell begin to tell you how cool her work is).

Anyways, i made some Malaysian food; our national dish actually: Nasi lemak. To go with Nasi Lemak, i made some sambal ikan bilis, egg curry, and turmeric chicken. After cooking all the dishes, i am very happy to report that the food was really, really good and i did not poison anyone. At least no one called to complain about hospital trips yet. I'm crossing my fingers......

To start off the night while i finish up the last dish, some curry puffs i've made some time ago.

My perennial favorite : Sambal ikan bilis; spicy and sweet-ish. Perfect to drizzle on nasi lemak

Sweet, sour and tangy egg curry. Made with tamarind and some ketchup, vinegar..

Oh yeah, i forgot to take a picture of the lemongrass turmeric chicken. Taste good though..

So all in all it was a great night. Friends came (even brought their dogs, Caleb and Sam), ate, talked and talked some more. And i went to bed, very full, contented that i had my fix of nasi lemak. You see, the going-away dinner was just an excuse to cook and eat my favorite Malaysian food..........
