It's snowing again!
Can you believe it ?! It is snowing outside right as i'm typing this entry. WTH is up with that ! It is supposed to stop snowing already. Come on, it's mid April, for heaven's sake...It's supposed to be spring ....! I don't mind the whole "spring showers, bring May flowers" kinda deal but what i am i supposed to do with spring snow ?? Spring snow, brings May ...nothing ! Damn it, just when i have RE-committed (previous attempts failed miserably in the face of homemade brownies and apple pie) myself to outdoorsy stuff like biking. Looks like i'll be going home without the spring tan and figure after all ....:(
On a lighter note, for those of you not in the know, I got a scholarship offer from my department for the next school year. This time the scholarship is from Micron Technology Inc. Some of you might know that i've obtained a departmental scholarship worth about $800 last year (thanks to the generosity of Mr. Blankmeyer) But this year..i've got more ! Yay ! This time it is $5000 of scholarship money..:). And, and this morning, we had a breakfast with the Micron representative. Breakfast was awesome as we got to meet some Micron people and you know, start networking for an internship and job. Well, i am pleased to say that even though i was late,
Aside ....
tsk, tsk, late for a breakfast with your scholarship provider is NOT very professional. "Certainly can throw the time-management and punctuality factor out of this kid," thought Micron people. But in my defense, i forgot to set my alarm (i thought it autosets by itself, which, i later found out, is NOT one of the standard features of a FREE -plastic-Made-In-China-calender/alarm clock from Citibank) AND the breakfast was from 7-9. I was questioning myself whether they meant everyone comes in at seven till nine OR scholars can stop by anytime for a chat in between those two hours. I chose the latter, much to my dismay. Apparently, all the other scholars got there at seven sharp and stayed till the end. Cheh, kiasu Americans. Who would've thought an Asian kid lost in the race of kiasu-ism. All i gotta say is Red Rain my friend, Red Rain.......

i managed to talk to the person i sent my appreciation letter to (Miss Dianna) and got some pretty good information from her. Apparently, they do keep in touch with their Micron scholars (aisyeh, me) through out the year with emails about tours, internships, and what not. And, and, since i asked about the plant they have in Singapore and my plans of going back home this summer, they said they might hook me up with someone down there. Maybe a possibility of internship or something (well they didn't exactly say a full-on internship as i am still a Sophomore. They were initially excited about the whole deal but then thought better of it and started asking me to send them an email regarding the Singapore plant. Which, i will). And so i thought, well, maybe not internship THIS summer (i wanna do nothing) but at least a visit down there to see what it is like is good. You know, start networking or whatever. So yeah. It was great. Got name cards and stuff (no breakfast though. I'm on a strict oatmeal diet for breakfast, which i forgo this morning for the reasons apparent above. Damn hungry now :( ). Hopefully this thing turns out well for me. I am definitely looking forward to getting a scholarship from them again the next, next year cause i found out that scholars in their Junior year gets an internship opportunity with them during summer. But for now, i am happy with my $5000. Hopefully i gave a lasting impression on the ladies i met today.......
Alrighty, enough about that. Back to rantings about school. School has been going good. Could've been better but i'm not complaining. At least it is coming to an end. So, yeah, i'll be back on Monday, May 14th (or is it Tuesday). Anyways, i can't wait to go back and meet with friends and do some stuff together again.
Well....I better go back to my lab report and homework. Hope everything is rosy and good for everyone.
If this entry appears to be discontinuous (or you could define it is a rambling entry), blame the coffee i had during breakfast...I am...jittery now.....
