Whoever said ice skating is exactly like roller blading is soo wrong,

Yesterday, me and a couple of friends went ice skating in the Valley ice garden. That was when i found out ice skating is so totally different than roller blading. First of all, the shoes were not comfortable at all. Maybe this is due to my wide feet but i had to get a size 12 (my size is 9.5) just to skate (and not comfortably too). The shoes are like plasticky shoes that would not stretch to accomodate your feet. two rounds around the rink and you're done. have to sit down to recover. and falling down is the most painful thing in ice skating. two seconds after i first step on the rink, i fell. Hard. On my behind. it was so painful as it was pure hard ice we were skating on. i started to get a hang of it after 15 minutes of skating but every 10 seconds i will lose my balance (and not fall, thank god). it did not help that children the age of 5-8 were zipping past me, skating as if they were just strolling along a park. and the pirouttes and jumps they were doing. mightily embarass me as i slipped and fell for the 200th time. some of the children were even cheering me on (bless their hearts). luckily there was another grown-up guy that did not skate that well (go dude!!!) and all my friends were not good skaters too. all in all, i fell 5 times. i came out of the rink sore but i really really enjoyed the whole thing. thank u anna for helping me skate and i'm so sorry if i pulled u down with me when we were skating :). pics (actually only one pic) coming soon.

The night before the skating bonanza was salsa night. i was actually suprised to see so many people turn up for the salsa class. it was like 26 of us and everyone was a beginner (well except the teacher and some girls). it was really fun. it's a partner dance so we change partners a lot. at the end of the class, me and my partner (judith) got praised for being good (good as in not stepping on each other's feet and following the beat of the music - he told us we have to work on "feeling" the dance, whatever that means).after that me and four other friends went to the leaf & bean. had some coffee and listened to the live band. talked about college and life here and life back home for two hours. pretty nice chat. then we headed back to our dorms. This weekend was a nice weekend. hope every weekend is like this one. that would be sweet.
